Story (500+ words):

This was an exciting evening for Wild Isles Cattery riders, never before had three of them been able to run any of the SPC tests together. Of course the brothers, Bobbie and Charlie, were present tonight, but also the Wild Isles Cattery owners’ daughter, Mara Everson, was also riding with the boys! This was her first SPC race, but the brothers were no rookies in this event. Bobbie was a goofball, and helped keep the atmosphere light for Mara, by picking on Charlie who didn’t mind the abuse from his older brother. So the three riders approached the evening event in great spirits, while the cats were along the same page.

All three male cats got along rather well. Notch and Heim, arrived to the Cattery on the same day. Meeting each other first at the stables, was the best thing that could of happened for the two of them. Heim is a bit independent, and a natural leader, where Notch just needed to give some affection. The love they displayed with each other, one might have mistaken them for brothers. The two tom cats were accepted well into the cattery, and the bond these two made was unbreakable.

Praetorian arrived a few months after the fact, but the cattery also accepted him well too. He is rather a shy boy, but a sweetheart like Notch and so he became the third wheel in this trio.

This evening Bobbie, the most experienced rider took Heim for the race, with Charlie choosing Notch, leaving Mara with Praetorian (this was for the best, as he was the smallest and easiest going cat to ride for the tackless Free Will Run). Now it isn’t that Mara is inexperienced altogether, of course she rides the cats for training and exercising purposes, but her main riding career is showing horses, over at Wild Isles Stables.

Heim was in an exceptionally good mood this evening, not being restricted with tack was his favorite way to be ridden. Bobbie was super excited for this run, he knew that with the other cats here from the Cattery, Heim would definitely give this run his best, so that he could stay proud as the trio’s leader!

Notch and Praetorian were hanging back a bit and staying close together as the cats were lead out to the start line. Charlie was now keeping Mara engaged in conversation, as they all began to mount. Then Bobbie lead Heim to the start line, with the others to follow suit. Praetorian pulled up along side Heim, followed by Notch. Everyone quieted down, with just the warm air blowing around them.

Quickly Bobbie popped the visor on his helmet, and said to Mara, “Good luck, see you at the finish line.” with a wink before he slapped the visor closed again.

Mara was smiling to herself thinking, “Yeah buddy, let us see who meets who at the finish line”.

With that the gun went off, and the Free Will Run was on! And the cats sprinting forward at the sound of the BANG!
